ORTLIEB-Warranty

The ORTLIEB warranty, limited to five years, is a voluntary warranty provided by the manufacturer. It grants additional rights independent of the rights granted by consumer protection laws. Should a product be replaced within the warranty period, the date of first delivery continues to apply to the five-year warranty period.

This worldwide, free of charge warranty of five years from delivery refers to material defects and processing errors. Scuff marks, holes and cracks caused by the customer's own fault are not covered by the warranty. Claims for defects due to normal wear and tear, improper use, non-observance of the assembly instructions, third-party intervention as well as due to improper storage are excluded. No warranty is given for damage due to improper care and improper use. As a rule, however, such damage can be repaired at cost price.

Consumer Protection Law

Important: The provisions of the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, do not apply to claims arising from statutory consumer protection rights. These statutory rights are not limited by the warranty. Thus, the benefits under the five-year limited ORTLIEB warranty are intended to supplement and not replace the rights granted by consumer protection laws.

If a product is defective, consumers may in particular claim the rights under §§ 434 et seq., §§ 474 et seq. of the German BGB (German Civil Code). Consumers can choose whether to claim performance under the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, or under their statutory consumer protection rights.

The first point of contact for warranty claims is always the specialist or online dealer with whom the purchase contract for the product was concluded. This warranty is subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Made of lightweight, polyurethane-coated nylon fabric and sporting an impressive 17.5 liters of space, the versatile Up-Town bike basket is ready to meet your modern needs. Given its proven durability and waterproof performance, the Uptown-City is a perfect companion for your trips to the bakery, post office and grocery store. Thanks to the bike basket’s smart stretch-cover design, you can quickly access your stowed items, like your smartphone, keys and wallet, without having to remove the cover altogether. All you need to do is flip it open in front. There is also a separate zippered inside pocket that allows you to store your valuables in a designated quick-access location. Attaching the basket to your handlebars allows you to keep an eye on it while you ride. And you’ll not have to worry because the Up-Town offers continual protection against the wind and rain. The basket’s inner frame makes it tip resistant and easy to load while shopping. The cover can also be removed entirely and placed in the basket at any time, for instance, when the weather’s good. And should it start to rain, you can close it again in seconds.

Which handlebar mount is right for me?

That depends on your bike. For classic handlebars, the standard adapter is suitable — it is stable and easy to install. If you want to secure your bag further, choose the version with a lock. For e-bikes with a display in the center, the e-bike mount is ideal because it offers more space.

If you want to use your bag on different bikes with only one mount, you can also use the Mounting-Set QR, which is not permanently attached to the bike.

If you already have an ORTLIEB or Rixen & Kaul mount, you usually do not need to buy an additional one. However, check compatibility beforehand using our compatibility overview.

How robust is the Up-Town?

How long is my warranty?

Is the Up-Town quick to open and close?

Yes, the practical lid can be lifted at the front without opening it completely. This allows you to quickly access your wallet or keys. In good weather, the lid can be folded back completely and stowed in the basket.

What is the difference between the Up-Town models?

All Up-Town models have a 17.5 liter capacity, are waterproof, and maintain their shape.

The regular Up-Town variants are mounted on the handlebar and are designed for loads up to 5 kg. They use the proven ORTLIEB handlebar mounts, which can also be lockable depending on the model.
The Up-Town Rack, on the other hand, is mounted on the luggage rack with the Top-Lock system and carries up to 10 kg.
Both variants are also available in the Urban version, whose Cordura material with its coarser structure provides a particularly high-quality, urban look.

How is the Up-Town mounted on the bike?

The classic Up-Town and the Up-Town Urban are mounted via a handlebar mount that provides a secure hold and can be easily removed.
The Up-Town Rack models use the ORTLIEB Top-Lock system. This is mounted once on the luggage rack and allows the basket to be attached and removed with a single movement.
